It’s Couture Week in Paris right now and Karl Lagerfeld ended the Chanel Couture show with two brides holding hands in a declaration of support from gay marriage.
There is an expected announcement by French President Francois-Hollande on Friday – endorsing a controversial law to allow same-sex marriage in the country and so the display of support could not have been more perfectly timed.
When asked if the use of the two catwalk brides was in support of the legalisation, Lagerfeld responded: “Of course it was.”
Lagerfeld had this to say:
“I don’t even understand the debate, since 1904 [in France], the church and state have been separate. I believe all religions should tolerate gay marriage.”
I love this. Go Karl- if at all possible this made me love him and Chanel even more than I already did!
