There are a few simple tricks that you can do in order to make your eyes stand out and be the focus of your face.

1. White eyeliner

If you put white eyeliner on your water line (the inner line on your bottom lid), this will give the illusion of bigger, brighter eyes in an instant. It is common practice for girls to wear their black kohl pencil here but this will only close your eyes.

I love the Kohl Pencil in White from Make-Up Forever!

2. Pigment

I like to also use a white shimmer pigment such as MAC’s Vanilla pigment in the inner corner of my eye. This also widens the eyes and highlights them. This pigment will last you for ages and ages as you only need a tiny amount. You can also use it as a highlighter for the rest of your face/body too!

3. False Lashes

If you have small lashes, a pair of natural false lashes will make your eyes really stand out. I said natural not the heavy drag queen type! A great tip is to apply the glue to the lashes and let it dry for about 20 seconds before you attempt to apply it. This allows it to get tacky and it sticks to your eyelid much better!

4. Eyebrows

Your eyebrows frame your face and can make you look made up even when you are wearing a very small amount of make-up. Some people don’t like to use pencil, and for an everyday look, I use a powder such as NYC brow palette. YOu don’t need to buy an expensive one, in fact I ahve found that my favourite powder is from the brand Essence which is just €2.99!

For nights out or for a more sculpted, dramatic look, I like to use this MAC pencil. I cannot leave the house without my eye brows filled in- be careful though, Scouse-brows are very 2011!

5. Avoid Dark Eye Shadows

Dark eye shadows all over your lid will only close your eyes and have the opposite effect to making them stand! Don’t get me wrong, I do love heavy eye shadows for a night out or a dramatic, sultry look but this will close your eyes and dark shadows should only really be used in the crease of your eye if you are looking to make them look bigger and brighter.

6. Eyeliner

When applying eyeliner to your upper lid, a great tip to help open your eyes is to make the line thickest in the middle part of your lid. Start at the inner corner drawing a very thin line then gradually make the line thicker towards the middle of the eye. Once you reach the middle of the eye, make the line thinner again as you reach the outer corner of your eye lid.
