So as most of you will probably know, a few months ago I began a make-up artistry course with LA Make-Up Academy. Just last week, I have graduated and am now a qualified make-up artist!

The course I did was their Module 2 course which trains you to be a bridal and high fashion make-up artist. Modules that I undertook in the course included Classic and Contemporary Bridal, Mother of the Bridge, Black & White Photography, High Fashion, Trend make-up and Avant Garde! That’s just a few of them!
I thoroughly enjoyed the course with the Evening, Trend and Avant Garde being my favourite classes. When I first bought my professional set of brushes I wasn’t even sure what they were all for and now I can’t believe I used to do my make-up without using at least 12 different brushes!
One of the best things about doing this course with LA Make-Up Academy is that they are non-brand affiliated so you get to experience lots of different brands of make-up and really find which are the best brands for you and you can chose your own favourites for building your kit. Brands that you work with include MAC, Illamasqua, Bobbi Brown, Rimmel, Estee Lauder, LA Creative, Make-Up Forever, Smashbox, Nars to name but a few.
For those of you who don’t know LA Make-Up Academy have their own collection of make-up and lashes, with their Lashes winning Tatler’s favourite eyelashes award! Students are entitled to a 30% discount too!
The tutors in LA Make-Up Academy were incredible, so approachable and unbelievably talented. They really are the best tutors! My main tutors were Laura Kinney, Amanda Sharkey and Liam Farrelly. Just click on their names to read more about them! They also have an incredible work experience programme which you can sign up to where you get the opportunity to work at fashions shows, photo shoots and even magazine editorials.
Here is a collage of my time there!
My favourite aspect of the course has to be the photoshoot with top photographer Hugh Chaloner. I will have images of my photo shoot up soon!
As I am now a qualified make-up artist if you would like to contact me with any make-up queries please do at or you can send me a mail to my facebook page!

    • Hi Aideen,

I bought the LA brush set. I really like it. The thing about brushes is, you don’t to get a set of 30 as you will more than likely just use about 10 brushes once you get used to them and figure out which ones you like. The LA brushes are a nice quality brush set.
